Class Rules
Up

I don't like rules any more than any one else. I just have a few guidelines. Here they are:

bullet1. Use common sense.
bullet2. Respect every one in the class. Every single one of us.
bullet3. Be part of the learning process, and not part of the learning prevention process. We are all here to learn.
bullet4. Time is valuable. Don't waste yours or any one else's.

Behavior

There starts to be a problem when different students interpret these rules differently.   So we have to be more specific and write detailed rules down. Here are some. The above guidelines always apply. School rules are always in force.

1. Food and drink do not belong in a classroom.  Keep them out. (Water on hot days only.)

2. Gum is annoying and disruptive to everyone else. Swallowing it is not good for you. Sticking under the desk? Please don't do it.  If I catch you and you'll serve ten minutes of classroom clean-up.  (Usually cleaning up gum from under the desk.)

In Class

When the bell starts to ring, you are sitting down at your assigned seat, your homework is out on your desk, and you are working on the activity posted on the board or displayed on the overhead projector. If you are late, you will marked late unless you have a written excuse. If you are late 4 times in one quarter, you will receive an automatic "U" on your report card for citizenship. If you are more than minutes late to class, you are absent.

Homework is due when assigned. No late work will be accepted. There are no exceptions.

 Materials

You will need to bring the following items to school every day.

  1. A three-ring binder with plenty of graph paper.
  2. A #2 pencil, or preferably a mechanical pencil with 2H,HB or 2B lead, 0.5 or 0.7 mm thick. A good eraser is also necessary.
  3. A ruler, at least 20 cm long, with inches and metric measurements.
  4. A set of colored pencils, at least six different colors to be used on graphs and charts.

Some students in some classes may be required to have a protractor, a compass, a calculator and other items.
